1. Internet TV Set To ‘Take Off’ This Christmas

Starcom’s Take: It has been a slippery slope with consumers moving from live television to on demand services and streaming. In the Christmas period consumers are even more tight for time and so these services become much more attractive and therefore it is not surprising these will experience such a lift during the Christmas season and then drop off more in the New Year.

2. Holiday shoppers depend on Amazon

Starcom’s Take: The gap between consumers in physical stores and online stores has been growing inch by inch all year but the real test has come now in the busiest shopping time of the year and these figures speak for themselves. The main issues would appear to be consumers trust in stores as apposed to online and they are made to feel more valued online. This is unfortunate given all the deals and discount retailers have produce to entice consumers back in.

3. Revealed: Top 10 things Ireland Googled in 2015

Starcom’s Take: As a national constantly expanding our horizons it is very interesting to see which way the consumer was looking this year and where these trends could point us toward in 2016.

4. Facebook Adds Live Video To Pages

Starcom’s Take: Brands can really take advantage of this new feature by providing consumers with behind the scenes real time video. It will be interesting to see which brand embrace the new feature first, and also how they use it

5. Brands and agencies still see social as a ‘teenager’ in the media mix but budgets are set to rise by a fifth

Starcom’s Take:  The use of social media by consumers continues to grow year on year. How each generation uses social media plays a big part of a brand social media strategy. What works for 18-24 year olds will be different to what works for 35-55 year olds.
